FAQ
Using BLACKCOB results in lower energy consumption to achieve a specific output. Whether your production goal is 100 – 200 – 500 or 700 grams of dry weight, you will require between 50 to 80% less energy with BLACKCOB to achieve that production level. BLACKCOB offers higher production for less electricity consumption.
It generates significantly less heat than HPS and is much more controllable during warmer months. It produces more heat than a traditional LED, which also helps control parameters in cold winter months or in areas with low ambient temperatures. In cases of extreme ambient temperatures, it's optimal to implement measures like good air circulation and direct air extraction to the exterior of the room where the cultivation is located. In cases of extreme cold, slightly close the extraction to work in intervals to preserve the heat produced by the equipment within the cultivation room.
Thanks to its exclusive 100% modular design, BLACKCOB achieves better light coverage and distribution, flexibly and adaptably for all types of surfaces, and is much more convenient and compact for use within the cultivation. It maintains an exceptional level of light penetration and intensity for an LED technology system, which will allow for high-quality crops and robust plants and flowers – a feat many LEDs on the market struggle with due to their low intensity and penetration over the crop.
Systems based on panels have limitations and disadvantages compared to BLACKCOB. The distribution, coverage, and customization of lighting conditions are limited by the panel's structure. BLACKCOB's modular design overcomes these limitations and provides better light properties for indoor cultivation, making better use of the surface and supplying better lighting conditions for the crops. Panels also imply increasingly larger and heavier equipment to compensate for their coverage limitation, which reduces convenience, flexibility, and practicality of the system. In contrast, BLACKCOB, being extremely compact and versatile, facilitates many tasks of installation, adjustments, and transport for implementing cultivation systems while maintaining ample free space for working within the indoor environment for transplanting, pruning, watering, arranging plants, etc. Panels often force one to bend down or work in uncomfortable body positions, or to continually remove plants for care. With BLACKCOB, one can move and work effortlessly throughout the cultivation area. Moreover, BLACKCOB uniquely enables the formation of flowers with superior density, compaction, and robustness. After several tests with multiple luminaires, thousands of customers have reported that the quality of flower they achieve with BLACKCOB cannot be matched with any other lighting.
The BLACKCOB F series works perfectly for the entire life cycle of the plant, from germination to harvest.
There is no issue using a humidifier with BLACKCOB. It's always advisable to use filtered water in the humidifier to prevent scale buildup on the electrical components of the closet, extractors, fans, and BLACKCOB itself, which could be affected by using poor-quality water in the humidifier. It's also important to prevent the steam flow emitted by the humidifier from coming into direct contact with BLACKCOB modules. There's no problem with increasing ambient humidity, but direct contact with condensed water emitted by the humidifier should be avoided. Simply directing the steam flow away from the modules will suffice to prevent any potential issues in the future.
For photodependent varieties such as FEM or Regular, you only need to reduce the light hours to trigger flowering in the plant; there's no need to modify anything in the equipment, just the operating hours. For automatic varieties, it's not necessary to modify the light hours since their flowering activation is not photodependent, meaning it does not activate based on light hours but rather after a certain period, the plant will start its flowering. In this case, there's no need to modify anything, neither the photoperiod nor anything in the equipment; the plant will continue its development from start to finish without needing to intervene in the lighting factor.
The equipment has a durability of more than 80,000 hours of continuous use, which is equivalent to more than 10 years and more than 50 continuous crops. Replacement of components will not be necessary, and efficiency will remain the same as the first day for many years.
Each BLACKCOB module at 45 - 50cm generates coverage of about 60 x 60 with full light density for maximum production. At 60 cm height, you can expand the coverage to 80 x 80 per module, even with optimal light density for production. At 70 cm, you can cover up to a 1 x 1 surface but more recommended for no further than vegetation; for flowering, it would be advisable to bring it a bit closer. Thus, you can play between 50 to 70 cm depending on whether more coverage or more light density is needed, as well as the type of growth sought; closer to the plants will promote more compact development, if used at greater heights will cause a greater stretch in the plants.
Yes, in each BLACKCOB, the modules can be used independently; the power self-regulates to work with the number of modules that are connected. An F240 with only one module connected will operate at 120W, with both it reaches 240W. Similarly, an F320 can use one or two modules, adding 160W of consumption each. For an F600, you can progress from 150W with one module connected to 600W once connecting the 4, adding 150W extra for each additional module connected to the power supply. In this way, you can progressively add more energy and coverage as the cultivation advances or also use the necessary modules for each crop, and everything will automatically regulate according to the number of connected functioning modules.
Under optimal cultivation conditions with BLACKCOB, you can obtain an average of 1 to 2 grams of dry flowers per watt of equipment consumption, significantly higher than the average that can be obtained with sodium, for example, between 0.5 to 1 gram per watt. This means that 600W of sodium could yield between 300 and 600 grams of production, whereas 600W of BLACKCOB can deliver between 600 and 1200 grams of production, roughly double the results for the same energy consumption.
BLACKCOB is fully designed for practical, comfortable, and simple use. Compact size, simple and safe connections, mechanisms, and functional design facilitate tasks of installation, transfer, and adjustments within the cultivation. A very practical and reliable piece of equipment for constant and continuous use over time.
Mostly cleaning. BLACKCOB can provide instructions on how to properly clean the equipment. If deeper maintenance is required, it's possible to directly contact the technical area at BLACKCOB to hire such a service.
The BLACKCOB F series is our main lighting line designed for the complete cultivation cycle, containing everything necessary for proper plant development from germination to harvest. Our S series, on the other hand, is a line of complementary products dedicated to the flowering stage of the plant. It can be used in conjunction with any main base lighting and will stimulate and enhance flowering performance. It's essentially a flowering enhancement equipment by emitting concentrations of highly effective spectrum for flower formation. In summary, the BLACKCOB F series is our main line for the entire cultivation cycle, while the S series is a specific complementary line that acts as a booster in flowering. The BLACKCOB S series is always recommended to be used in conjunction with a full-spectrum main lighting.
